Full Day
São Miguel

In the Azores, we have resident dolphin species such as common, bottlenose and Risso’s dolphins. Swimming with dolphins in São Miguel happens with some of these species most of the times. In the summertime, we can also see Atlantic spotted dolphins, a very curious and friendly species of dolphin that is also very good to swim with. All the dolphins are free, fast and playful in their natural habitat, as they should be.

This is a unique experience that will make you think. You will learn more about dolphins, you will be able to be with them in the open ocean and hear them while they communicate.

Before the swimming with dolphins tour, we will meet at our shop in Ponta Delgada harbor, where our marine biologist experts will explain to you some of the safety rules on how to use the snorkel and the mask and how to enter the water. Usually, we go to the ocean with about 8 people on a zodiac boat and only two people will go in the water at the same time. This is how we guarantee that everyone enjoys the experience. You will be able to get in the water around two to three times.

After the 2.5 hours of swimming with dolphins, it is time to have lunch in a local restaurant, just a few meters away in Ponta Delgada harbour.

The nature guide will be ready to continue the tour with you to the famous Sete Cidades lakes in a jeep.

The jeep tour takes you to the rim of the volcanic complex of Sete Cidades. The views and landscape are simply incredible and that is why this is one of Portugal’s seven wonders. You will learn everything about this wonderful place, including the love story about the two lakes of different colors.

Before we return back to Ponta Delgada, you will also go to Ponta da Ferraria natural swimming pools to take a dip. When the tide is low, in this location you can have the ocean water really warm thanks to the volcanic fissure it is located in. This phenomenon happens because of the fumaroles under the water of these pools. Definitely, a must do!
