Futurismo Biologists TeamToday really felt like springtime! Clear blue sky, flat crystalline sea and really pleasant temperature. The sightings also contributed to this feeling.
We started the day with a curious group of common dolphins, the water was so clear and the lighting so perfect that we could see all their movements underwater and really appreciate their unique coloration.
We then headed to our favourite sperm whale ever: Mr Liable!
We saw its impressive fluke, slow and steady as always.
After that a huge surprise was waiting for us. We headed west to find a beautiful group of 5 fin whales, not a common sighting for this time of the year.
Their blows were very strong and high. The sound truly left us with our mouths opened. We came back to Ponta Delgada with a huge smile in our faces enjoying the ride. In the afternoon we found again a group of common dolphins, a bit more spread out this time but still jumping and delighting us.
Mr Liable did its second apparition of the day and this time it took longer to dive, we had time to enjoy its size, which doesn’t cease to amaze us.
It seems the weather will continue like this for s few days, so let’s make the most out of it!
