Today was cold and wavy, we are feeling the northern winds that bring us lower temperatures than usual. That didn’t stop us from going to the sea and enjoying nature in all its splendour.
We started the trip with a spread-out group of common dolphins, from time to time they approached to the boat with beautiful shows of bowriding, socializing and mating. We had to constantly change of area as dolphins were coming and going, constantly finding subgroups amongst them.
We then widen our possibilities by heading to different areas with our different boats. The lookouts were constantly advising us and we followed several signs that could indicate the presence of cetaceans: birds flying, a fishing area, some splashes in the distance… But we had no luck. Even with the hydrophone, we couldn’t hear anything in the area. Despite that, in one of our catamarans, there was an enthusiastic kid eager to learn with the help of our biologists.
But a nice surprise was waiting for us: loggerhead turtles!! We found 3 different individuals. One of them really curious about our rib boat.
It was a day to remember that we work with wild animals and our sightings depend completely on their behaviour.
