It is said that Friday 13 is an unlucky day but for us was a great one! The sun was up and the sea was calm. Soon after leaving the harbour we tried our luck with a small group of bottlenose dolphins that were foraging and kept that way for over 20 minutes so after that time our skipper decided to leave them in peace to feed while we searched for anything else heading to the West side of the island, that was the direction the humpback whales travelled yesterday. Long after travelling we found from the boat a very curious and active pod of bottlenose dolphins who bowrided and stayed around us so our guests enjoyed them properly, hearing their whistles and clicks.
A bit before 30 minutes with them (maximum time to spend with a group) we headed South in the hopes of seeing another species and again, from the boat, a guest spotted some splashes and they were from common dolphins! A very nice group to close our day, with them being very sociable and curious towards the boat. Also in that time with this species some surprises appeared, two huge bait balls which the dolphins were feeding on and a bit after we noticed a log in the water with a turtle just next to it that dove very quick as we got closer.
Today no whales tho but we are sure that soon we will have them every day!
