Today a common dolphin day! We have been so lucky, only few minutes after leaving the harbor we encountered our first group of common dolphins, one of the resident species here in the Azores! It was a big group with some calves!

Then we moved to other areas where we found more common dolphin groups, we observed them very close to our catamaran, some of them bow-riding. Seabirds such as yellow legged seagulls and Cory’s shearwaters helped us to find more groups, we observed a feeding behavior since sometimes cetaceans and birds feed all together.

During the trip we have also seen other kinds of marine life such as two loggerhead sea turtles and Portuguese man o’ wars. Before going back to Ponta Delgada, we tried to find something else, but you know, we are working with nature and wild animals, who knows if they will be waiting for us tomorrow, each day is a surprise!
