azwhalesIn the last few days we’ve had lots of swimming with dolphins tours in Pico! The amazing dolphins have been receiving us very kindly into their home – the Ocean. We’ve been swimming with the curious and inquisitive Common dolphins that just as us explored, through the sound and vision senses, what were these new animals that for some minutes shared the same environment as them.
We also had the opportunity to get inside the water with Risso’s dolphins. These Oceanic dolphins can also be curious about the swimmers, but we must be much more careful and silent when near them! For sure it was an amazing experience to meet them and to see them in their natural environment as they were regularly swimming into the deep blue!
On the last whale watching trips we’ve been able to spot the Sperm whales as they were clicking through the Ocean, echolocating to find their delicious squids in the big depths.
Also, we’ve had the opportunity to be with a Sei whale travelling calmly quite close to the boat. It enabled us to see it very well as we were travelling carefully with it.
The dolphins always made our delights and specially in the last few days we’ve been able to see them foraging with the company of the shearwaters. Cory’s shearwaters are amazing swimmers and fishers, but the small mackerel finds their protection underneath the Portuguese man o’ war! Luckily for them, we’ve been having a great abundance of these cnidarians!
The Ocean is full of life and we are here to observe it, and respectfully explore it! Who will join us?
