Looks like summer! Despite the cold wind, today felt like summer since the weather and sea conditions were perfect.
Today we saw in the morning two resident species of dolphins. First, common dolphins were super calm and into the boats, followed by bottlenose dolphins that were doing the exact opposite and ignoring us. Respecting them is something worth doing.
We left them to go check out a huge and playful group of spotted dolphins so this means the water is still very good!
By the afternoon, the weather conditions would be enough to make everyone happy but we want cetaceans and that’s what we saw. Started out with common dolphins, which we saw perfectly because of the sun and the glassy water.
After them, our lookout sent us very far away from the island as he saw some blows from a whale but all we could find on that area were bottlenose dolphins but only this time they wanted to play with us!
Our team was always on the lookout for any blow or sign of a whale but nothing until we were about to give up and a juvenile sperm whale breached a bit far from us! A jump, expected by no one but loved by everyone. Quickly we headed close to the whale which shallow dived but this time when it surfaced our catamaran was close enough to see the juvenile for a few moments until it dived showing us the tail and letting us know it would stay under for some time thus concluding this wonderful day.
