Sandrina RodriguesOur journey started calmed and sunny at the Marina. Our boats put their engines on good speed and run trough the sea. Soon enough we had our first meeting of the day, a beautiful group of spotted dolphins. They were spread out on the zone but we were lucky enough to see some big jumps and some of them also bowriding with us!
The tour continued and we turned to the east. A very nice option since the east was reserving us some amazing encounters.
The second sighting was another dolphin meeting, this time a very special one with Risso’s dolphins, which were spectacular close to our boats, showing both the head and the tail just in front of us!
After that, we abandoned the zone and at one point some other dolphins found us, the bottlenose dolphins. They made an incredible jump show towards or boats and then continued their way.
When we thought that the Azorean sea was done with us, it gave us our final surprise and a very big one. Far away from Ponta Delgada, we found our last species, two incredible Bryde’s whales traveling, maybe looking for a nice meal! After looking at them for a while we finally started our way back to Ponta Delgada.
After a long trip, we can just say one thing: Every single second spent at the sea was worth it! 4 different species of dolphins and whales! 🙂
