We saw a rare species of beaked whale in Pico !

And with it they came lots of species, including the rare northern bottlenose whale. We had a morning full of dolphins: spotted dolphin, striped dolphin, common dolphin, and pilot whales.

It was a perfect morning for swimming with them. We even saw a rare species of beaked whale meanwhile, the northern bottlenose whale. But it was in the afternoon when we had the best sighting of this species, we saw two big males travelling and breathing at the surface, and not so far from our boat. We were able to see their amazing size of approximately 9-10 m, it was amazing.

Apart from this clear highlight of the day, we had more species and good sightings during the afternoon: some sperm whales, our resident whale, more pilot whales and at the end we saw a group of Risso’s dolphin to close our magnific day.
