Clear sky and lots of sun welcomed us to the sea today. Not long after leaving the marina, just outside Lagoa, we came across the first pod of our resident Common Dolphins.

Since this pod was in a feeding frenzy they gave little attention to our boat, so we continued our trip heading a bit further away from the coast and towards the centre of the island where we encountered another pod of common dolphins, this one was bigger and much more interested in us, displaying a relaxed posture and interacting more with the boat.

After a while with this group, we received indications from one of our lookouts that there was some movement in another area, and could possibly be another species. After arriving and searching for a moment, we had found… another pod of common dolphins!
They were all over the place today making it a very fun and educative morning alongside our most sighted species in the beginning of February,
