Surfing dolphins

Today the wind on the ocean created some nice waves for the dolphins to surf, giving us some great looks at this playful behaviour that they seem to enjoy doing. We encountered both bottlenose dolphins (a huge group!) and common dolphins in the morning, and both seemed to enjoy surfing and jumping out of the backs of the waves. In the afternoon we returned to the sea to encounter another group of friendly common dolphins towards the east. We enjoyed some time with them and we also had great views of the coastline with plenty of rainbows along the way. On our way back we passed by Vila Franca Islet for some more scenic views before continuing back to Ponta Delgada.
