The year started in a very good tone with 3 of our resident species and a very big and unusual surprise.
In total trips, we were able to observe 4 species, common dolphins, bottlenose dolphins, sperm whales, and the unexpected Orcas.
Orcas took the show because although we can see them in the Azores very early in the spring, seeing them in January is not very common, in fact, the last time Futurismo saw Orcas in the month of January was in 2013, and curiously, in the same exact day, the 8th.
Apart from our beloved cetaceans, we could also see other special creatures, the Atlantic puffin (Fratercola arctica), a couple of Great Skua (Stercorarius skua), and also a Sunfish (Mola mola).
Let’s hope February brings better weather and lots of animals to see and spend time with!
