Sei whales and Risso’s dolphins in Pico Island

In today’s trip, we have seen two Sei whales travelling calmly together. We were travelling among them for a little while, observing their high blows followed by the slow surfacing of their long body.

We departed from their area to meet a small Risso’s dolphin pod. They were scattered into two groups, travelling in the same direction. The more behind the group was travelling always close to the surface without diving deep, maybe to be able to keep up with the two in heading at the front! 

 

In our way to the harbour, on the direction of the mountain, we also sighted one loggerhead sea turtle, resting and catching the sun rays near the surface.
