Professional School Santa Casa da Misericórdia visits Futurismo!

Tourism students visited us at the harbour of Ponta Delgada
This morning, we received a visit of students from the professional school Santa Casa da Misericordia, of Ponta Delgada. It was a group of students specialized in tourism, specialized in outdoor activities, who were very interested in knowing our more about our work, the tourism techniques we use as well as our working method and relationship with our guests.

Our marine biologist Mariana Silva made an excellent presentation about the history of Futurismo since its creation in 1990, until today. We are a company with 30 years of experience and many employees with the most varied functions passed through here, from masters of mechanics for our sea and land fleet, to certified nature guides and marine biologists, or specialists in tourism, marketing, communication and finances.
When we discover our vocation, it becomes easier to do what we really like, and here, at Futurismo, we have this opportunity due to the wide variety of activities we have.
Obviously, we also talked about the nature around us, including whales and dolphins and the influence that ocean currents have on the Azores to be recognized as an excellent destination to see cetaceans.

In the cetacean observation experiences, our marine biologist also spoke about the work we do internally for scientific research, because through photographs of animals it is possible to identify, for example, if they are new individuals in the Azores or if, on the other hand, they are individuals that we see frequently and therefore, residents in our waters.

In addition, our team of marine biologists also has the opportunity to participate in scientific congresses.

The feedback we had from this students group was very positive, mainly because they were very interested in learning how they can choose and work to have a good professional future.
Of course, we also talked about the issue of sustainability and how changing consumption and lifestyle habits are so important and can make a difference. We, at Futurismo, for example, in addition to the sea and land experiences (hiking, jeep, van tours, etc.), we also get together and clean trails and beaches.

Today, unfortunately, it was not possible to go to the ocean to see whales and dolphins, but we always have something interesting to do at Futurismo!
