Today we were so lucky! The weather was a bit windy at the beginning, but after a while, we got sheltered by the island and conditions improved a lot, we even had the sun shining in the sky!
But what a day! The feeling of witnessing one of the most amazing migrations on Earth… Totally accomplished! Every year in Spring (although a bit late this time!), the two largest animals of the world pass by this paradise in the middle of the Atlantic. And sometimes, like today in the morning, both blue whales and fin whales pass together! A couple of blue whales, and a few more fin whales, all traveling quite close together.
From land, our lookouts saw more than 15 whales! And in the afternoon
tour…another 3 fin whales around!
And now think about the thousands of kilometers they have traveled until here, and the ones that remain so far to keep on traveling! However, despite being among the most charismatic animals ever, they are still quite unknown. We are collecting data and taking photos in every single trip to keep on learning more about them!

And of course, don’t forget the playful bottlenose dolphins that have joined us before and after the whales. They are always great to conquer the smiles of all the people onboard.
