Today was another sunny day with a calm sea. We saw three species of dolphins in the morning, two resident species: common dolphin and bottlenose dolphins and a migratory species: Atlantic spotted dolphins. Unfortunately, we witnessed a very sad thing, one of the bottlenose dolphins had a plastic bag around its head, and we could observe the dolphin jumping to try to get it off (see photo below).
In the afternoon we had the great luck to resight the resident species of dolphins from the morning, but also a minke whale. The minke whale is the smallest baleen whale we can see here in the Azores. We also saw several loggerhead turtles.
