Even when today was a really windy day, we managed to see 3 different species!
The morning looked like everything was in the same area! First at all, we found our beautiful seasonal dolphins, the Atlantic spotted dolphins. They were quite spread out but we saw jumps and bowrinding behavior.
After these dolphins, we stopped with the sperm whales that were quite close to the area of the dolphins. We saw a mom sperm whale with her baby but then we realized that we had more and more sperm whales around us.
We finish our beautiful morning with the pilot whales; a group of around 25 individuals and also with calves. They came quite close to the boat and we managed to see them really well.
In the afternoon we even had more wind and waves than the morning but we headed to the West to encounter at least 8 sperm whales.
So let’s see if the azorean weather will allow us to encounter more animals this week! Fingers crossed!
