What an amazing day! Flat seas, sun shining and perfect blue all over, ocean and sky 🙂 And three different species of cetaceans in our trips!
We have started our trip with a group of bottlenose dolphins within the first five minutes of the trip. Today they were unexpectedly close to the harbour! Heading out, we saw that the group was very spread out, also with some shearwaters around. Suddenly, from the middle of the bottlenose dolphins appeared some Atlantic spotted dolphins. Funny to see both species together and be able to compare their different sizes! Bottlenose dolphins are easily double size than spotted!
Then, after passing some tuna pole fishing boats, we went to see our beloved Mr. Liable. He was coming for a foraging dive, and we didn’t wait too long to see him on the surface. Great, majestic, and incredibly beautiful to see this huge animal once again close by. Did you know that this adult male should be with more than 40 years old now? And looking back.. the whaling here in the Azores was forbidden only in 1986… Make your own counts! But we have seen a survivor, and we are proud of him!
