Extinction is forever

This week we continued our environmental education agenda. This time or team of marine biologists visited the Basic and Secondary School of Nordeste to continue spreading the awareness.

The theme was extinction as it is one of the major problems around the globe. Lots of animals are disappearing from our planet and we have to understand why and also know what we can contribute to in order to slow it down.

We then talked about the species that visit our islands, saying which ones are in danger and why. We talked about turtles, sharks and whales. Unfortunately there is a lot of overfishing and pollution in the oceans that harm the most varied species. And some of them (dolphins and whale sharks) are taken from nature and taken from their families to stay in small pools for us to have fun and see their acrobatics

We have to do a effort to have a more balanced diet, to take care of our garbage, to avoid visits to water parks and not to eat whale meat that are served in many countries.

We can all do a little to avoid the extinction of these species that visit us.
