Atlantic spotted dolphins arrived in Pico!

futurismo pico azores adventures

The amazing Atlantic spotted dolphins were already around since a few days in the Azores and yesterday we had the pleasure to see them during both of our trips in the morning and the afternoon!

They are our summer guests because they usually arrive to the Azores when the temperature of the ocean raises to 21-22°C. Usually friendly, they often bowride our boat, which always makes everybody happy to be able to see them from so close.

Despite a pretty grey and covered weather, the sea was calm and gave us the chance to spot species as the common dolphins, many sperm whales close to the shore, even a female nursing a calf, and also a small group of one of the most misterious species of cetaceans, the beaked whale.

A beautiful loggerhead turtle passed also by our boat, and what a surprise for our guests to discover the flying fish with his awesome long-distance gliding abilities above the water!
