Another great sperm whale day in São Miguel island

In the morning we saw 3 different sperm whales but each one fluking twice as we were patiently waiting for them in the area. Two times we had a double fluking as they were diving synchronously. This time we found the sperm whales acoustically thanks to listening to the hydrophone. When they stopped clicking we didn’t have to wait long until they were back at the surface. 

In the afternoon we found again sperm whales but they were not fluking like in the morning but going for shallow dives and then all of a sudden one breached twice and shortly after they were 4 swimming next to each other. Some of them were rolling and we managed to see tips of tails and once even a pectoral fin (flipper) above the surface which is quite unusual. We left them when they were close under the water surface lying upside down.
