On this beautiful sunny day, we were lucky to see the third largest animals in the world again: Sei whales – a migratory species here in the Azores. First, we noticed two separate blows close to each other and soon after, we saw one huge individual next to a much smaller one! This made us guess that it could possibly be a mother with its juvenile. While watching their huge blows, which fascinated and surprised us every time, we could hear everyone shout with excitement!
After a while, we continued to search for other animals. Soon we saw another migratory species – a pod of charming Atlantic spotted dolphins, who approached our boat for some bow-riding and put smiles on everyone’s faces! We could see some older individuals covered in many spots, as well as some really small calves who didn’t have spots yet, as they become visible when the dolphin gets older.
What a great time it was!
