Another day of summer with clouds and rain, and whales and dolphins! This morning we have seen a great group of Atlantic spotted dolphins, playful and friendly with our boats, and again, with a lot of babies! They were bow-riding our catamarans for a long time, and they delighted our swimmers of the morning swimming with dolphin tours.
After the dolphins, we head out to the area of the whales. From land, our lookouts saw them diving, but the visibility was not very good at the time we went there to spot them from land again. Therefore, from our rubber boats, the hydrophone helped us to locate the sperm whale listening to his clicks. And we found him! We all managed to see Mr. Liable’s tail when going down for a deep foraging dive. It is good to spend some time with an old friend like him!
In the afternoon we stayed closer to shore and managed to see a lot of species! Our first sighting was a pod of common dolphins! They were bow-riding a fishing vessel and were very playful. We then encountered a second group of common dolphins! They were also playful and seemed to be foraging.
Our next species were the Risso’s dolphins! They were a nice calm group, approximately 8 individuals. In between these sightings, we managed to see a hammerhead shark and quite a large individual! About a meter and a half! That was quite exciting.

Then, to end the day beautifully, our lookouts found some pilot whale. They were quite calm as well and had plenty of calves. All in all, we had a great afternoon, regardless of the crazy waves!
