Today, we had a good day and we went out in the morning as well as in the afternoon. During our morning trip, on our two catamarans, we were able to see a large group of common dolphins that were spread out in several small groups.
After finishing our sighting, on our catamaran « 4 Ventos » we went around the Island of Vila Franca do Campo. In our Zodiac boat « Cafre », we still managed to see a group of bottlenose dolphins surfing the swell of the sea. At first, they did not seem very interested in us so we kept our distance, but a few minutes later we discovered a school of fish that the dolphins brought to the surface in order to feed. Afterwards, they became more curious about our presence and even started to do some high jumps before travelling to the western end of the island.
During the afternoon trip, both on our catamaran Cetus and our boat Zodiac Cafre, we saw common dolphins again. This time, the dolphins were very active with Cory’s shearwaters, common terns, and seagulls flying overhead.
It was a good sighting because we could perfect see a school of fish with the dolphins feeding along with the seabirds. We managed to see several Cory´s shearwaters successfully leaving the area with a fish in their beaks, and several dolphins as well!
At some point, we even saw not only dolphins, but even some of the fish jumping out of the water, it was quite a great sighting!
