Helping a better cause – Waste management in São Miguel Island

This week we are having the European Week for Waste Reduction and to emphasize this initiative our team of nature lovers went collecting garbage from two hike trails in São Miguel Island: Ribeira Funda and Praia da Viola. 


We gathered a big amount of waste but the two locations had very different types of garbage. 


In Ribeira Funda, we found a lot of agricultural residues such as bags of fertilizers, bags from cow food and others. 


In Praia da Viola trail we found completely random waste residues such as flip-flops, water bottles, ropes, shopping bags, etc… 


It is our responsibility to help developing better tourism practices and little by little, we can all make a big difference in waste management and the sustainability of our planet.
