Today was a fantastic day to see and swim with dolphins here in São Miguel, Azores. We were lucky to encounter three different species throughout the day: bottlenose dolphins, common dolphins and Atlantic spotted dolphins. Each species is very different to watch, due to their different appearances as well as differences in their behaviour. We got to see a lot of different types of wild behaviours and we were also delighted to see a lot of newborn calves, especially of the common dolphins. Bird biodiversity was also high today which was great for the keen bird watchers we had aboard today. As well as our more common seabirds (Cory’s shearwater, common tern and yellow-legged gull) we also encountered great shearwaters and a sooty shearwater in the afternoon. What a great day!
