Today we had a lovely day full of cetaceans, two species of dolphins and fin whales both in the morning and the afternoon. In the morning we were lucky to see common dolphin and striped dolphins as well as the whales. In the afternoon we were lucky to see the whales very close. We had a group of 4 fin whales sometimes swimming right up to the boat passing very close so we could see their bodies through the water. They were feeding and turning to their sides and showing us their pectoral fins like they were waving to the boat and our clients. I think today the photos will speak for themselves:
Fin whale pec-waving
Two fin whales next to the boat
Fin whale coming straight towards our boat,
you can see that the right side of the lower jaw is white (the left side is dark)
Video of one of the fin whales passing behind the boat
The whale in front of the boat, surprising us!
Our skipper watching the whale
One of the fin whales, and Santa Maria in the background
