Common dolphins, common dolphins common dolphins!

Today we had another great day with a rough sea!
In the morning we went out and spotted a really large pod of common dolphins playing in the sea!

Then, our spotter had another species for us so we headed in the direction they asked us to go. There we encountered a different species of dolphins, they were our second resident species, the bottlenose dolphins! They were bowriding and traveling. In the morning we also had a swimming with dolphins trip! We managed to find the common dolphins very close to the coast! Here the dolphins were feeding so we had lots of cory´s shearwaters shooting underwater, right next to the common dolphins!

In the afternoon the sea got a little rougher, but our spotters managed to find us some common dolphins, again! But this time they were in a large feeding frenzy! We could not keep up with the number of dolphins and birds at the surface.

Additionally, we could even see the fish jumping between the dolphins, and birds were flying away with lots of fish in their beaks! It must have been quite a feast for them.
Then having a closer look, we managed to identify some other species. In the picture below, can you identify the three species?

In the photograph above one of our biologists managed to capture a common dolphin jumping, a Cory´s shearwater, and a Manx shearwater (Puffinus puffinus)! One of the rare shearwaters that are seen in the Azores, and only a few nesting grounds are known here on the Azores.
