Today the ocean was still mixed up from strong winds yesterday, but it turned out to be a great day for dolphin and whale watching. We had a lot of marine life to see out there. During both tours today we encountered fin whales, the most encountered whale species at this time of the year. We also had a lot of dolphins to see throughout the day. In the morning we actually encountered 3 dolphin species feeding together with a lot of birds: common dolphins, bottlenose dolphins and Atlantic spotted dolphins (the latter is a warm water species that was encountered for the first time this year – a good sign that summer is on the way). In the afternoon we encountered a nice group of bottlenose dolphins, some of us saw common dolphins again, and of course our reliable fin whales. What a great day.
