Summer did not leave yet!

We saw the summer species, the spotted dolphins, in the morning!
But, we first spotted a small calm group of bottlenose dolphins
Soon after
that we headed out towards the spotted dolphins! And they were in a huge pod!
About 300 of them!

Many calves and juveniles were present in this pod. The
juveniles really gave us a show and were throwing themselves out of the water!
Some were jumping upside down, some were slapping their bodies at the surface,
and some were even coordinating their jumps. It was a great show!

We also
managed to see some bowriding on our catamarans, which allowed us to see the
absence of spots on the bodies of the juveniles. The spots on the spotted
dolphins only develop when they are more matured.

On the way back one of our ribs (zodiac boat) stumbled across some risso’s dolphins and one of them breached multiple
times, it was spectacular!

Our other catamaran managed to see the bottlenose
dolphins a second time and they looked like they were attempting to mate in
front of the boat.
They were more curious this time!

In the afternoon our boats went to the West of São Miguel to see, after a long trip, a really curious group of spotted dolphins that approached us during all the time we were there with them!

Afterwards some sperm whales appeared close to the catamaran and what a show, really calm animals with the sun hitting us providing an impressive sight to all our guests who happily said goodbye to them as they dived showing amazing tails and they made our day since in the morning there were no sperm whales
