“Eagle eyes” is the way futurismo team is called because there are no cetaceans that can escape from us! One of the most important things when you are in nature is always to keep your eyes open, like a jaguar in a rainforest looking for its prey or like an albatross flying over the ocean. Mariana, one of our guides, knows that really well! She could spot from far away a group of Atlantic spotted dolphins (Stenella frontalis).

We approached them very slowly, following the rules of a responsible sight to do not disturb the pod. This species comes to the Azores in summer because of the food and they take advantage of the warmer waters to give birth. Today when we got closer, we spotted a lovely group composed of many juveniles and babies! They were so tiny that they still need to improve their swimming skills!

A lot of tenderness, swimming everywhere following the adults and trying to imitate them! On of our visitors could not stop saying “it is so cute, so cute!” She was so excited! But who can hold themselves back when you are overflowed with love watching such a scene! The group was all the time with us until we left them, they even were saying goodbye while they kept swimming behind us!

Grey and cloudy mornings like today are not easy but we managed to stay dry and take the best of our spotting skills! And in fact it worked! So, like us pay attention every time! Open your eyes and use all your senses. Take advantage of this and have an experience that you will probably never forget!
