It seems like lately every trip is full of surprises! Today we had a beautiful sunny day and the sea was very calm. Which was a huge plus for watching all of those dolphins and whales today, as we could perfectly see them under water!

We started our trip with a large group of migratory Atlantic spotted dolphins, which were approaching our boat and jumping all around, giving everyone a good chance to see them from up close. But there was something more waiting for us!
We arrived to a spot which was apparently full of fish, as there were hundreds of Cory’s shearwaters as well as dolphins feeding. Soon we saw two sei whales coming closer to each other from different sides, so close to our boat! But that wasn’t everything. Soon we saw one more. And one more. And one more. Finally, there were 5 sei whales surrounding our boat and everybody just didn’t know which side to choose to look at! The view of 5 sei whales (a mother with her baby between them), dolphins and hundreds of birds was just breathtaking and didn’t leave anyone indifferent! What a magical sight.
When we finally decided to move on and leave the feeding giants, we saw some jumping Atlantic spotted dolphins again, and soon they were changed by an amazingly active group of the much bigger bottlenose dolphins! They were coming super close to the boat, and with the perfectly clear and calm waters we could see their eyes checking us out. Everyone got plenty of chances to take great pictures and enjoy the company of these wonderful animals.
When we started moving away, the dolphins just didn’t seem to let us go and started bow-riding, surprising us with some incredible high jumps! We just didn’t want the trip to finish, and the dolphins seemed to agree, enjoying the waves created by our boat which let them move faster. However, finally we had to come back to Ponta Delgada. But we are sure everyone will remember this breathtaking day for a long time!
