Today we had hundreds of dolphins around to see.
Over a large area we had several groups of common dolphins spread out, including many juveniles and even smaller calves.
The wavy ocean made a nice playground for the dolphins and we got to enjoy watching them surfing and leaping out of the waves. Some bottlenose dolphins and striped dolphins also made an appearance in the morning and afternoon respectively, but the common dolphins were really the stars of the show today.
Their simple name really doesn’t do them any justice, as common dolphins are beautifully marked with a yellow patch on their sides, and they are always a delight to watch.
