Pigmy sperm whales in Pico Island!

It seems that the summer arrived earlier this year. Plenty of dolphins and nice groups of pilot whales. We started our day with a pod of juveniles Risso’s dolphins that were socializing.

Then we went to see a very calm group of pilot whales logging very often, probably they had a busy night feeding.

But we went home was the time for the “flipper” family that made a incredible show with there’s high jumps.

But today was really special because we saw a very rare specie here in Azores the pigmy sperm whales. We saw some individuals from far, but it was enough to recognize the species. We love finding rare species and we hope to see them more often 🙂
