azwhalesOne day, two different tours. Today the sperm whales were amazing. Our resident species were sighted in the morning and in the afternoon.
In the morning on the tour we saw some tails of the sperm whales, so they were foraging. We can see the tail when they are hunting the giant squids, squids, octopus’ and fish. The bottlenose dolphins were sighted. We saw an individual that looked really old with several marks from the age.
In the afternoon we saw sperm whales as well, but they were like nine all together socializing and resting at the surface. We also managed to see two species of dolphins: our resident common dolphins and the seasonal Atlantic spotted dolphins.
One of our boats saw a couple of Risso’s dolphins on the way back. They were difficult to spot! Another great and sunny day in the Azorean waters.
