Doing
animal observation in the nature is always unpredictable. Today was no
exception. Our morning was with sperm whales that were quite far and still we
saw an excellent group of Atlantic spotted dolphins. In the afternoon we
changed our strategy. The sperm whales just continued to move towards northeast and
our zodiac was in the front to see if they could find the sperm whales, but these
dived and did not let themselves be seen. The catamarans started their afternoon
with Risso’s dolphins. We have unfortunately seen some of these animals with
plastic bags on their dorsal fins. Further on we found a group of pilot whales
resting at the surface with their calves. On the way back we still found bottlenosedolphins and common dolphins. When our zodiac started its back to Ponta Delgada
found the sperm whales. Everything has to do with luck and also with the mood of
our friends.
