This past month the weather has allowed us to go to the sea on 24 of the 30 days of September. During these days we have encountered 8 different cetacean species (4 species of whale and 4 species of dolphin). As well as our regular sightings of resident species such as the sperm whale, common dolphin and bottlenose dolphin we also had surprise encounters with a blue whale and sei whale that were passing the area.
- Common dolphin (Delphinus delphis) – 88% sighting frequency
- Bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus) – 46% sighting frequency
- Atlantic spotted dolphin (Stenella frontalis) – 42% sighting frequency
- Striped dolphin (Stenella coeruleoalba) – 13% sighting frequency
- Beaked whale species (Mesoplodon sp.) – 4% sighting frequency
- Sperm whale (Physeter macrocephalus) – 46% sighting frequency
- Blue whale (Balaenoptera musculus) – 4% sighting frequency
- Sei whale (Balaenoptera borealis) – 4% sighting frequency
