Full Day
São Miguel

In the Azores, we do have resident dolphin species such as common, bottlenose and Risso’s dolphin. Swimming with dolphins happens with some of these species most of the times, in the summertime we can also see Atlantic spotted dolphins, a very curious and friendly type of dolphin that is also very good to swim with. Free, fast and playful in their natural habitat, as they should be.

This is a unique experience that will make you think. You will learn more about dolphins, you will be able to be with them in the open ocean and hear them while they communicate.

Before the tour, our marine biologist experts will explain you some of the safety rules on how to use the snorkel mask and how to enter the water. Usually, you go with 8 people on a zodiac boat and only two people at the same time go in the water. This is how we guarantee that everyone enjoys the experience. You will be able to get in the water around two to three times.

After the 2.5 hours of swimming with dolphins, it’s time to have lunch in a local restaurant, just a few meters away in Ponta Delgada harbour.

The nature guide will be ready to continue the tour with you to the famous Sete Cidades lakes in a jeep.

The jeep tour takes you to the rim of the volcanic complex of Sete Cidades. The views and landscape are simply incredible and that is why this is one of Portugal’s seven wonders.

Before we return you will also go the Ponta da Ferraria natural swimming pools for a bath. When the tide is low, in this location you can have the ocean water really warm. This phenomenon happens because of the fumaroles under the water of these pools. Definitely, a must do!
