LAJES DO PICO
HALF DAY
SWIM WITH DOLPHINS IN PICO ISLAND
Dolphins are considered to be one of the most intelligent species on Earth. They have an excellent memory and a complex communication system. In Pico we have been swimming with dolphins a lot.
Ready to swim and listen to these beautiful creatures? To communicate, dolphins use clicking sounds. In the Azores, there can be seen up to six dolphin species. Although they are wild animals that live in their natural habitat, they do interact with us humans quite a lot.
This adventure starts in Lajes do Pico harbor on a zodiac boat in groups of a few people so it can be done safely and comfortably.
On land, you will have a briefing done by a marine biologist or a nature guide that will explain some details about what to expect. They will explain how to get into the water, how to interact with the dolphins and how to use the snorkel and mask.
Normally, in each tour you can dive two to three times and two people will go in the water at a time in order to not scare the dolphins. This is definitely a unique experience.
