{"id":973,"date":"2016-07-31T20:20:00","date_gmt":"2016-07-31T20:20:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/whalewatchingazores.com\/blog\/2016\/07\/31\/5-species-of-dolphins\/"},"modified":"2019-11-22T22:35:26","modified_gmt":"2019-11-22T22:35:26","slug":"5-species-of-dolphins","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/whalewatchingazores.com\/blog\/5-species-of-dolphins\/","title":{"rendered":"5 Species of dolphins!"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nToday was a dolphin day!&nbsp;In our tours of the day we could enjoy with the company of 5 different species of dolphins.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nIn the Azores there are three resident species, today we started the morning seeing the three of them! the species that we see more often are the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/azoreswhales.blogspot.pt\/2007\/07\/common-dolphin.html\">common dolphin<\/a>&nbsp;and the&nbsp;<span style=\"color: #0000ee; text-decoration: underline;\">bottlenose dolphin&nbsp;<\/span>but today we could see the other one&#8230;<a href=\"http:\/\/azoreswhales.blogspot.pt\/2007\/07\/rissos-dolphin.html\">Risso&#8217;s dolphin<\/a>! It was a nice group with many young ones. We finished the morning with a large group of&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/azoreswhales.blogspot.pt\/2007\/07\/atlantic-spotted-dolphin.html\">Atlantic spotted dolphin<\/a>, one of our summer visitors! the group was very active, bow riding and jumping out of the water&#8230; an excelent opportunity for our clients to take pictures that they will always remember!<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nThe afternoon was also full of dolphins, we could add another species to our dolphin list&#8230;<a href=\"http:\/\/azoreswhales.blogspot.pt\/2007\/07\/striped-dolphin.html\">striped dolphin<\/a>! another species that prefers warm waters. We could see them making long shallow leaps above the water changing the direcction all the time&#8230; that&#8217;s what we usually see in the Azores when we encountered this species!
