\nToday was a great day full of activity out on the ocean. Our first encounter of the day was with a small group of beaked whales<\/a>. They were travelling very fast, almost coming entirely out of the water. We could see their heads and long beaks very well so that we could identify them as Sowerby’s beaked whales<\/a>. It was a rare and precious moments to see these normally shy animals very well and for a long time at the surface (as beaked whales<\/a> can dive for more than 2 hours at a time). Further out we searched for a sperm whale<\/a> that our lookout on land had spotted, but we never found it. Nevertheless, it was great to see the beaked whales, a much more rare sighting than a sperm whales that we often see during our tours. During the day we also encountered an active group of bottlenose dolphins<\/a> close to shore. They were jumping high out of the water, giving us a beautiful show of their size and strength. In the afternoon we also encountered a nice curious group of common dolphins<\/a> and one of our boats came across a group of Atlantic spotted dolphins<\/a>.<\/div>\n
