{"id":852,"date":"2017-02-12T17:04:00","date_gmt":"2017-02-12T17:04:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/whalewatchingazores.com\/blog\/2017\/02\/12\/working-with-nature\/"},"modified":"2019-11-22T22:35:58","modified_gmt":"2019-11-22T22:35:58","slug":"working-with-nature","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/whalewatchingazores.com\/blog\/working-with-nature\/","title":{"rendered":"Working with nature"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\" trbidi=\"on\">\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nToday we started out the morning trying to locate a whale our <a href=\"http:\/\/azoreswhales.blogspot.pt\/2007\/07\/vigias-onshore-lookouts.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">coastal lookout<\/a> had spotted. This whale didn&#8217;t make our job easy and in the end showed us that nature is in charge. We tried several times to get to the area of the whale each time our <a href=\"http:\/\/azoreswhales.blogspot.pt\/2007\/07\/vigias-onshore-lookouts.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">lookout<\/a> saw it surface, but we did not even see the blow. It will remain a mystery what kind of whale at actually was, perhaps one of the baleen whale species that we can expect to start migrating through the Azores in large numbers very soon. We did encounter a small group of shy <a href=\"http:\/\/azoreswhales.blogspot.pt\/2007\/07\/rissos-dolphin.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Risso&#8217;s dolphins<\/a> while trying to see the whale, and later closer to shore we could enjoy a larger group of <a href=\"http:\/\/azoreswhales.blogspot.pt\/2007\/07\/common-dolphin.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">common dolphins<\/a>. These dolphins were feeding, together with a lot of <a href=\"http:\/\/azoreswhales.blogspot.pt\/2007\/07\/yellow-legged-gull-fact-sheet.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">yellow-legged gulls<\/a>.
