\nToday, we only went out in the morning, we knew that the wind from East was going to increase in the afternoon, but it allowed us to observe whales and dolphins.<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
\nFirst, we saw a huge group of our seasonal species the <\/span>Atlantic spotted dolphinsn<\/a><\/span><\/span>. We are having a lot of sightings of this species these days because our waters are warm enough for them. <\/span><\/div>\n

\nThen we went to a <\/span>sperm whale<\/span><\/span><\/a> area, we could see several individuals doing shallow dive and deep dives so we watched different behaviours. Suddenly in the same area, we spotted a group of <\/span>bottlenose dolphins<\/a><\/span>, this resident species is bigger than the Atlantic spotted dolphins.<\/span><\/div>\n

\nThis morning we had 45 future biologists from the University of Plymouth on board, they spent a week here in S\u00e3o Miguel, studying geology, the vegetation and the fauna of this island and their last day was a whale watching\/birdwatching trip with us. So, moreover cetaceans we managed to see Cory\u00b4s shearwaters, Common Terns, Great shearwaters and even it seems unbelievable we saw a Sparrow in the middle of the sea. <\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\nOn land we explained the students the research we are doing and we showed them also the treasures in our little museum.
\nSo yes! We got wet on the small boats more than on the big ones, but the water is just water and it didn’t stop us to see the cetaceans of the Azores.<\/span><\/div>\n
