{"id":780,"date":"2017-05-30T20:52:00","date_gmt":"2017-05-30T20:52:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/whalewatchingazores.com\/blog\/2017\/05\/30\/spring-day-with-fin-whales-sperm-whales\/"},"modified":"2019-11-22T22:36:22","modified_gmt":"2019-11-22T22:36:22","slug":"spring-day-with-fin-whales-sperm-whales","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/whalewatchingazores.com\/blog\/spring-day-with-fin-whales-sperm-whales\/","title":{"rendered":"Spring day with fin whales, sperm whales and dolphins"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nToday we had a beautiful day, the sea was calm and full of life.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nIn the morning tour we started with the sightings of different groups of <a href=\"http:\/\/azoreswhales.blogspot.pt\/2007\/07\/common-dolphin.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">common dolphins<\/a>, they were friendly approaching to the boats. One of our boats could also see a few <a href=\"http:\/\/azoreswhales.blogspot.pt\/2007\/07\/bottlenose-dolphin.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">bottlenose dolphins<\/a>. After the dolphins we went to the &#8220;whale area&#8221; where we could see two <a href=\"http:\/\/azoreswhales.blogspot.pt\/2007\/07\/fin-whale.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">fin whales<\/a> that were surfacing really often.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nAfter the fin whales we went to the area where our look-out saw a male <a href=\"http:\/\/azoreswhales.blogspot.pt\/2007\/07\/sperm-whale.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">sperm whale<\/a>. It wasn&#8217;t easy to see the animal&#8230; it went for a deep dive and it was diving for 70 minutes! On average, the sperm whales when they go for a deep dive they stay 45 minutes under the water but sometimes (like today) they can stay longer&#8230; Our catamaran Quatro Ventos could see the animal surfacing for a few minutes before going for a deep dive again, what a beautiful sighting!<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nIn the afternoon we found fin whales again, they were about four in the area.
