Despite the frequent rain and bad weather, we were still able to head out to sea and sight 7 different whale and dolphin species. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img width=\"655\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/whalewatchingazores.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/slide2-655x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-66865\" srcset=\"https:\/\/whalewatchingazores.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/slide2-655x1024.jpg 655w, https:\/\/whalewatchingazores.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/slide2-192x300.jpg 192w, https:\/\/whalewatchingazores.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/slide2-768x1201.jpg 768w, https:\/\/whalewatchingazores.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/slide2-380x594.jpg 380w, https:\/\/whalewatchingazores.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/slide2.jpg 691w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 655px) 100vw, 655px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In this month we had the chance to sight all of our resident species: bottlenose dolphins, risso&#8217;s dolphins, sperm whales, and common dolphins. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The most commonly sighted species was the common dolphin, followed by the blue whale and bottlenose dolphin. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the 4th of March, in spite of the bad weather, we were surprised by a humpback whale jumping very close to the Ponta Delgada harbour. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the last day of the month, we had another surprise! The behaviours of these animals are, at times, different, and we continuously learn more about them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite next month being &#8220;Abril \u00e1guas mil&#8221; (April thousand waters, meaning a month with a lot of rain), we hope to have the opportunity to head out to sea more often<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Spring has arrived and, with it, our first sightings of blue whales &#8211;
