Futurismo\u00a0often hosts students from various countries, allowing them to gain experience
with us by helping out during our tours and completing work required for their\u00a0university degree.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
During the period of October to December 2017 DeniseVerstraeten<\/a> joined us from Van Hall Larenstein, University of Applied Sciencesin the Netherlands.<\/a> She was interested in learning about the people that joined\u00a0our whale watching trips. Therefore, Denise completed a small project to gain a\u00a0greater understanding of the customer experience of the trip by the help of a\u00a0brief inquiry.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
Different questions were asked, such as:<\/span><\/div>\n
    \n
  1. Did you feel any emotions by seeing the animals?<\/li>\n
  2. What was the highlight of the tour for you?<\/li>\n
  3. What key message did you take away after\u00a0today\u2019s tour?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
    But,\u00a0of course, firstly she wanted to know why our clients went whale watching in the
    first place! The majority were very curious to know more about whales and<\/strong>
    dolphins<\/strong>, or went on a trip out of passion for these animals. <\/span><\/div>\n
    To get a little bit more insight into their motivations, she asked our clients: “<\/span>Why\u00a0did you book a tour with Futurismo?”.\u00a0The majority responded with\u00a0\u2018recommendations\u2019 or \u2018reputation\u2019. <\/span><\/div>\n
    So\u00a0the tourists became more curious?\u00a0<\/span>Great! More than 95% <\/strong>of our customers reported\u00a0that they experienced feelings<\/strong> or emotions<\/strong> towards whales and\/or dolphins when\u00a0they encountered them with Futurismo!<\/a> To make it a bit more specific, 97% of\u00a0their emotions were positive<\/strong>, however a small group felt some mixed emotions\u00a0like \u2018sadness<\/strong>\u2019 or \u2018fear<\/strong>‘.<\/div>\n
    Why?\u00a0<\/strong>During our trips Futurismo\u2019s biologists explain a\u00a0lot about conservation and threats<\/a> to marine life. This may have had an effect\u00a0on our clients\u2019 emotions, which makes sense right? To give you an idea of the\u00a0different emotions, a figure is made which is shown below.<\/div>\n

    The\u00a0highlight of the tour were very different for each one of our customers, but that\u00a0did not make them less interesting!\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
    A few that really popped out were: \u2018The animals in their own environment<\/strong>\u2019, \u2018The information of the guide<\/strong>\u2019, and \u2018Awareness\u2019.<\/strong> <\/span><\/div>\n
    Awareness\u00a0was a highlight that also came back in the key message of our customers\u2026 Most\u00a0key messages were related on conservation! (more than 50%) The majority of the people\u00a0filled in a conservation-related key message like \u2018<\/span>Marine <\/span>mammals should\u00a0not be captured\u2019 and \u2018a person is very small (but can do something)<\/strong>\u2019. <\/span><\/div>\n
    We were very pleased to hear our clients had a\u00a0joyful experience and remembered the trip for being a contributor to the protection\u00a0of these magnificent animals!\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
    Therefore, let\u2019s work together and save our\u00a0whales!<\/span><\/div>\n
