Nevertheless there were five opportunities to go out to the open Atlantic ocean. Four times with guests and one research trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img width=\"940\" height=\"788\" src=\"https:\/\/whalewatchingazores.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/AVISTAMENTOS-dezembro.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-56455\" srcset=\"https:\/\/whalewatchingazores.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/AVISTAMENTOS-dezembro.png 940w, https:\/\/whalewatchingazores.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/AVISTAMENTOS-dezembro-300x251.png 300w, https:\/\/whalewatchingazores.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/AVISTAMENTOS-dezembro-768x644.png 768w, https:\/\/whalewatchingazores.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/AVISTAMENTOS-dezembro-380x319.png 380w, https:\/\/whalewatchingazores.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/AVISTAMENTOS-dezembro-800x671.png 800w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 940px) 100vw, 940px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Our tours were 100 % successful as we managed to enjoy cetaceans whenever Futurismo was on the water.<br>This month the top ranking is taken by the Bottlenose Dolphins, followed by the Common Dolphins and then the Sperm Whales. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img width=\"800\" height=\"499\" src=\"https:\/\/whalewatchingazores.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/IMG-20210103-WA0010.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-56451\" srcset=\"https:\/\/whalewatchingazores.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/IMG-20210103-WA0010.jpg 800w, https:\/\/whalewatchingazores.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/IMG-20210103-WA0010-300x187.jpg 300w, https:\/\/whalewatchingazores.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/IMG-20210103-WA0010-768x479.jpg 768w, https:\/\/whalewatchingazores.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/IMG-20210103-WA0010-380x237.jpg 380w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Our residents which are possible to see all year round. Especially delighting was the encounter with the False Killer Whales which made us waiting for them the whole year.<br>This December was showing us that not quantity but quality is important. The sightings were of top quality when the animals approached out of free will to enjoy our company and stayed with us for quite a while in eye to eye contact. They also displayed their abilities with breaches and leaps.<br>More diversity showed itself with the arriving of winter guest like the Kittiwakes, a species which is not often seen on land but we met several flocks of them in the open ocean. The Yellow Legged Seagulls stay loyal to S\u00e3o Miguel all year long so they were never missing on any tour. Great Skuas came along and entered our register as well as the Loggerhead Turtle.
