\nThis morning was the typical case of calm before the storm. Sunny morning in S\u00e3o Miguel as we headed out to an excellent morning! <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

\nIt started with a huge group of common dolphins<\/a>, fairly close to shore, which our whale watching boats left soon after since there was so much to see and our swimming activity is best done with less boats. <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

\n<\/div>\n
\n<\/a><\/div>\n

\nOur zodiac boats are faster so we went to see a different species of dolphin, the Atlantic spotted dolphin<\/a> who comes to our waters during the summer. <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

\nWhile with the dolphins, our lookouts spotted a big male sperm whale<\/a>, timed its dive and took us to where we needed to be in order to find the big whale. And big it was, our famous Mr. Liable made another appearance in our trips and its amazing to see he is thriving and feeding! <\/span><\/span>

\nWe said bye to him when out of the blue a sei whale<\/a> appeared close to where we were as a lot of schooling fish just gathered on the surface awaiting its fate. It is unusual to find baleen whales in this time of the year since they are returning from the feeding grounds, going south to breeding grounds so they don’t normally come as close to the island but is always a pleasant surprise to see them. <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

\nComing back to the harbour we met again some common and spotted dolphins as we said goodbye and good luck these next few days as we wait for the storm to pass.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

\nAlso during this morning trip, our biologists managed to take a piece of fridge out of the ocean. What a weird encounter!<\/span><\/div>\n
