\nThe month of June was a great one for whale and dolphin
\nwatching in the Azores. <\/span><\/p>\n

\n
<\/span><\/div>\n
\nDuring this month we had a 100% success rate of seeing
\nwhales and\/or dolphins during all our tours, and we registered a total of 11
\ndifferent species encountered off S\u00e3o Miguel Island. <\/span><\/div>\n
\n
<\/span><\/div>\n
\nAt this time of the year
\nwe are seeing groups of sperm whales during many of our tours, and we still
\nhave some baleen whales (mostly sei whales but also some fin whales, blue
\nwhales and even a minke whale) migrating through, so this is a great time of
\nthe year to see a variety of whale species. <\/span><\/div>\n
\n
<\/span><\/div>\n
\nOur most encountered dolphin
\nspecies was the bottlenose dolphin and we also welcomed our first Atlantic
\nspotted dolphins of the year. <\/span><\/div>\n
\n
<\/span><\/div>\n
\nOther dolphin species encountered were common
\ndolphins, Risso’s dolphins, striped dolphins and pilot whales. <\/span><\/div>\n
\n
<\/span><\/div>\n
\nDuring our tours
\nwe often encounter other types of marine life and this month’s list includes
\nmany loggerhead turtles, a leatherback turtle, a manta ray and devil ray,
\nPortuguese man-o-war and a lot of flying fish. <\/span><\/div>\n
\n
<\/span><\/div>\n
\nThis is also a great time of the
\nyear to see large flocks of seabirds, especially the Cory’s shearwaters which
\noften feed together with the dolphins. <\/span><\/div>\n
\n
<\/span><\/div>\n
\nNow we are looking forward to continued
\ngreat sightings and summer weather during the next month.<\/span><\/div>\n
