\nWhat a
\nwonderful day on Pico Island. We saw a total of 8 species, 6 in the morning and
\n5 in the afternoon. <\/span><\/span>We started
\nthe morning in the best way: a female sperm whale teaching their calf about how
\nto jump out of the water. It\u2019s very awesome to see! <\/span><\/div>\n

\nThen we had a group of
\nAtlantic Spotted dolphins<\/a> at the crystalline sea. Then we saw some pilot whales
\nresting. We went to see something for the first time this year at Pico,
\n\u201cBotinhoso\u201d or “<\/span>Grampa” <\/span>(name of the Azores). It is a <\/span>Northern Bottlenose Whale<\/a>. And we
\nalso saw <\/span>Sowerby\u2019s beaked whales<\/a> and even before come back home we
\nencountered a group of Common dolphins.<\/span><\/div>\n

\nafternoon we saw another two females of sperm whales<\/a>. We also saw a group of
\npilot whales interacting with Bottlenose Dolphins<\/a>, and the \u201cBotinhoso\u201d again
\nand we still had a group of male Risso’s dolphins<\/a>.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

\ngood day, indeed!<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

\nIn S\u00e3o Miguel, this
\nmorning was dedicated to some of our residents. We started with the friendly
\nCommon Dolphins bowriding.<\/span><\/div>\n

\nA bit further out we found a big family of sperm
\nwhales gathering. Three subgroups about to join each other\u2019s logging calmly at
\nthe surface with their calves. On the way back, we encountered Risso’s Dolphins
\nwhich often tend to stay in the distance but this time we saw them very well
\nclose up even interacting with some Common Dolphins.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

\nafternoon we found a group of Striped dolphins<\/a> displaying nicely their stripes
\nas they were leaping a lot and passing close in front of our catamaran. Later
\nwe arrived in the area of the Sperm Whales again. This time they were spread
\nand diving, so we saw some flukes. In the same area, we met also the Bottlenose
\nDolphins which were completing the last species of our residents. Other boats
\nmanaged to see some Atlantic Spotted Dolphins<\/a> and a Hammerhead Shark. So,
\nanother great day for Futurismo on the water.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
